January 19 2020 marks the 47th anniversary of the Roe v Wade court decision that legalized abortion in our nation for any reason. It also opened the door to deep sorrow and regret for many who chose abortion, thinking it held the promise of "reproductive freedom."
During these current times, it is especially important to be a voice for the unborn by proclaiming God’s truth and the love of Jesus Christ to women facing unplanned pregnancies and their families. We invite you to join with us in a special celebration of the immeasurable value and importance of every life.
In 1983, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation establishing a National Sanctity of Human Life Sunday (SOHLS), a day set apart to focus on the intrinsic value of human life and the fundamental right to life, as recognized by the American Founding Fathers.
Since then, SOHLS is held on the Sunday in January that falls closest to the day on which the Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions were handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court on January 22, 1973. In 2020, SOHLS will be commemorated on January 19.
Inspire a culture of life in your congregation by showing a short video (provided by Hope Clniic for Women) to bring attention to the reality of abortion still present in our society and to highlight the life-giving work being done in our community by HCW. The video highlights the work of pregnancy centers like ours, which offer practical help, emotional support, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people facing unplanned pregnancies and related issues. You may also distribute baby bottles provided by HCW to allow families to have a hands on experience in supporting life for the unborn.
We are so grateful for your partnership and support of our ministry! Thank you for sharing in the care and compassion that your local pregnancy center offers. Our impact will be greatly enhanced by your participation and prayers.
